OUR MISSION

The Mission of the Wood County Democratic Party is to recruit, nominate, support, and elect Democratic candidates to public office, while also fostering greater public interest, involvement, and education in civic participation.​

To that end, the WCDP is committed to public and government policies that encourage promote and advance the shared values, principles and traditions of our Party which include:

1. Individual, political, economic, and religious freedom for all individuals;

2. Fairness, equal opportunity, and equal protection under law for every person;

3. Mutual respect, tolerance, and respect for the diversity for all individuals, families, and communities;

4. Openness, competence, fiscal responsibility, integrity, and ethical conduct in government;

5. Commitment to social justice, actively working to dismantle systemic racism, sexism, and other forms of discrimination;

6. Protection and expansion of workers’ rights, including the right to organize, fair wages, and safe working conditions;

7. Support for public education, including free access to higher education and vocational training, and equitable funding for schools;

8. Comprehensive healthcare access for all, ensuring that medical care is a right, not a privilege, that includes mental health services and the right to abortion services;

9. Advocacy for comprehensive immigration reform that respects the dignity of all individuals and provides a path to citizenship;

10. Strengthened support for LGBTQ+ rights, including anti-discrimination laws and policies that affirm and protect their rights;

11. Promotion of affordable housing and actions to combat homelessness, ensuring everyone has access to safe and stable living conditions;

12. Protection of and the responsible use of our environment and community resources; and

13. A decent quality of life for all individuals and families.
